The safe use of medicines campaign - Antibiotics on the Farm

The farming industry is now starting to address the use of antibiotics. Although human resistance is unlikely to come from animals, it is still an issue that needs addressing to improve the quality of life for animals and disease management.

"Concern over antibiotics resistance in livestock and humans is driving change in how they can be used on farm. To safeguard a healthy livestock industry, farmers must demonstrate they are using medicines responsibly or face losing key disease control measures for good."

Join a Part-Time Carnivore Team

Don't admit to being a Secret Eater, become a Part Time Carnivore instead! A great website from the part time carnivore demonstrates how eating less meat every week can have a real positive impact on the environment. According to their website eating meat only three times a weeks saves around 116 million square metres of land and 32kg of CO2 each week. Interesting read and definitely worth a visit..

Old MacDonald had multi-strain resistant MRSA on his farm

Yesterday in a typical scare mongering piece which our nihilistic media adore, the UK Chief Medical Officer was described as saying that the continual use of antibiotics is a threat on par to terrorism and climate change. These hyperbolic news articles always make me irate. The world's media seems to thrive on portraying this fictitious message that the earth will be a pile of rubble within five years.

The issue of antibiotics in the food chain has been a problem which has been ignored by governments for years. The fact that farmers were pumping their cattle full of antibiotics and growth hormones didn't seem to be concerning anyone.

Fears raised over Chinese 'Organic' Produce

New concerns have been raised over the authenticity of Organic crops in China. Reports are indicating that organic farms in Xiaotangshan have been using pesticides to control crop growth.

The Benefits of Flaxseed - Superfoods Series

The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.
Thomas A Edison.

I only discovered the wonders of flaxseeds (also known as linseed) recently, but this food can certainly be classed as a superfood. This little seed can help to battle against disease; with initial studies showing that it can fight heart disease, diabetes and even cancer. The reasoning behind this is that flaxseeds are packed with vitamins and minerals that the body crave. So throw out those musty old vitamin capsules and see why organic flaxseeds can help your body perform wonders. These seeds contain:

Omega 3: Flaxseed is one of the best sources for Omega 3. These essential fatty acids aid the bodies recovery and

Frankenfruit: The Real Issues with GMO... PART TWO

GMOs are inherently risky, no one can escape it since they concern daily food and the immediate environment. We must all consider whether we want to embrace this food source. Europe has been reluctant to cultivate this potentially dangerous crop but around the world the use of GM is on the increase.

GMOs vs Organic Farming: The Lines are blurring.. PART ONE

28th of March 2007, and the Quebec's Liberal Party HQ wakes up to discover five tonnes of corn piled high on their doorstep. Left by Greenpeace activist this gesture was left in protest at the unlabelled GM products that are being sneaked into Canadian supermarkets.

Canada is one of the biggest producers of GMO products and the use of these products is on the increase around the world. The US leads the GMO revolution as the number 1 producing country and has approved 25 crops for farming.
